Certificates Required for Yacht Crew

Working on a superyacht requires specific maritime certifications. Here's what you need to know:

Essential Certificates

1. STCW Basic Safety Training

The STCW (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping) Basic Safety Training is mandatory for all seafarers. This includes:

  • Personal Survival Techniques
  • Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting
  • Elementary First Aid
  • Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities

2. ENG1 Medical Certificate

A valid medical certificate is required to prove fitness for work at sea. Valid for 2 years (or 1 year for those over 18).

3. Food Safety Level 2

Essential for all crew members working in the galley or handling food on board.
